The realistic timeline for a Nigerian passport and Saudi visa

How long each stage actually takes, and the point at which a departure stops being possible for you.

The single most common reason a pilgrim misses a departure is not money. It is a passport that was started too late.

Passport, if you have none. Budget six to ten weeks for a fresh Nigerian e-passport through the standard channel, longer if your state's office is backed up. The 64-page and 10-year variants sometimes move faster because fewer people apply for them.

Passport renewal. Usually faster — three to six weeks — but only if your existing data capture is clean. If your NIN and passport records disagree on anything, including a middle name or a date, expect the process to stall until you fix the mismatch. Fix it before you book, not after.

Validity. Saudi requires at least six months of validity beyond your return date. A passport that expires four months after you fly is not usable, even though it is technically still valid on the day of travel.

Saudi visa. Once we hold your passport and your balance is clear, visa filing itself is the quick part — typically a few working days for Umrah. The bottleneck is never the visa. It is everything that must be true before we can file.

The practical cut-off. For an Umrah departure, we need your passport in hand roughly four weeks before the flight. Work backwards from there: if you have no passport at all, you need to have started around three months out.

If you are reading this and your passport situation is unresolved, deal with that first and pick a departure second. We would rather put you on a later flight than watch you lose a deposit.
